Cameroon have been drawn in Group A of the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations against hosts Egypt, Mali and Ghana. The draw for the competition took place yesterday at the Haramlek Palace of Montaza Complex in Alexandria, Egypt. Cameroon who are participating in the competition for their first time, are expected to put up a good performance.
In Group B, Nigeria defending champions and main favourites have been drawn against Cote d’Ivoire, South Africa and Zambia.
In preparation for the AFCON, coach Rigobert Song released a list of 26 players to take part in training camp in Hungary during the FIFA period from October 7 to 15. The list was realesed via the FECAFOOT social media platform.
Three keepers, eight defenders, six midfielders and nine strikers. While nine players were on the waiting list.
The eight-team tournament will run from the 8-22 November in Egypt with the best three teams qualifying automatically for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
