Cameroon striker Karl TokoEkambi may be returning to the French Ligue 1 during this winter transfer window. French club Olympique Lyonnais recently made their intentions to recruit the Villarreal goal poacher.
According to information gathered from French Newspaper “L’Equipe” last Tuesday, Lyon is seriously searching for an offensive player and the Indomitable Lions forward is in the good books of Coach Rudy Garcia.
Lyon is currently facing some difficulties in their attack line. Before the winter break, the “Gones” lost two of their strikers Jeff Reine-Adélaïde and Memphis Depay due to injuries.
Still according to the French paper, the Yellow Sub-marines are open to negotiate with the French and sell TokoEkambi. However, while Lyon is envisaging to sign TokoEkambi on a six-month loan deal with a buying option, La Liga club Villarreal will only let TokoEkambi leave if Lyon can make an offer superior to the 13 million Fcfa they paid for him.
The 27-year-old Cameroon forward scored 16 goals for Angers during the 2017/2018 season while in France. Voted player of the month of October 2019, in the Spanish La Liga, Karl Toko Ekambi is linked to Villarreal in 2023.
