The Intercontinental play-off double tie pitting the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon against Chile slated for April 9 and 15, 2020, has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Eliminated by Zambia in the last round of the Olympic Qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, the girls of Coach Alain Djeumfa had to play 2018 Copa America Women’s Cup runners-up Chile to pick a ticket for the Olympic Games.
The double tie was halted after a decision taken by the World Governing body FIFA that all competitions be put temporarily on hold because the COVID-19 pandemic which has already affected 167 countries worldwide. The new date for the double tie will be announced by FIFA.
The rescheduling of the match gives the Indomitable Lionesses more ample time to prepare for the Chile equation. The Lionesses exit by Zambia was a bitter pill to swallow for the 2019 Best Women’s team in the CAF Awards.
