The 74th NBA season officially started last night. The yearly basketball competition which brings 30 franchise across the United States of America with One Franchise coming from Canada. The Canadian Franchise are the reigning defending Champions and actual team of Cameroonian basketballer Pascal Siakam.
Last year’s Most Improved Player (MIP) in the opening night of the NBA season the lanky forward put up a ridiculous line of 34 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists in 38 minutes. If not for the fact that he committed six fouls, his stats could be even more impressive. The Toronto Raptors won the New Orleans Pelicans after over-time.
With the transfer of Kawhi Leonard who left for the Clippers in the pre-season, the 25 year-old forward has already assumed the role of the role of franchise player.
This is understandable as “Spicy P” (Siakam’s nickname) recently signed a four-year contract extension with the Raptors that’s worth a whopping 130 million Dollars roughing over FCFA 76 billion. The new jaw dropping contract has made Pascal Siakam the highest paid basketballer and sports man in Africa. He equally with this contract joined the big guns of the NBA.
His compatriot Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers are expected to far better than last season. The franchise signed Al Aldford and re-signed Tobias Harris.
Embiid main ambition of the year is to be NBA’s best defender and help his franchise reach the Conference finals for the first time since 2001.
