There has been widespread social media condemnation from the Cameroonian public following the selection of ‘ TARA’, as the mascot of the CHAN 2020 competition scheduled for the 4th to the 25th of April. Though TARA is still pending approval from CAF to be the official mascot the competition, the social media has been flooded with critics all sought describing TARA by its physical looks as frightful, more of an abomination and an embarrassment to its host country. While others in outrage called on CAF not validate TARA as the official mascot of CAN 2020, some have come up with positive proposals to improve on its image.
This is the reason why Sports and Physical Education Minister and President of the COCAN 20-21, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi in a recent declaration disclosed that all fruitful comments and opinions with regards to the official from the public will be taken into consideration.
These recommendations the minister added will be complemented with those from CAF to produce the the official and final mascot of CHAN 2020 and made known to the public immediately.
