Karl Toko Ekambi is Olympique Lyonnais first winter signing. The Indomitable Lions forward inked a contract with the French club last Monday for a six-month loan deal of €4 million (FCFA 2.6 billion) with an option to buy the player of €11.5 million (CFA 7.5 billion).
Lyon had been in search of striker since the injuries of Dutch Memphis Depay and Jeff Adelaide who will be out for long time. The 27-year old Indomitable Lion forward is returning to the championship that he knows quite well.
Before joining Villareal, Toko Ekambi had a brilliant spell SCO Angers during the 2017/2018 season wherein he scored 17 goals in Ligue 1. Toko Ekambi’s fine season permitted him win the RFI Marc Vivien Foe’s award for best African Player playing in the French League.
Toko Ekambi before transferred had scored six goals so far with Yellow Sub-marines and was voted player of the month of October in La Liga.
