The 2019 Interpools effectively kicked-off in Bertoua over the weekend and has recorded a lot of surprises so far. First, was the last minute replacement of Volcan of Noun who was supposed to represent the West Region by Riziére FC.
Riziére FC filled a petition against Volcan of Noun for lining-up three eligible players in the finals of their play-offs. FECAFOOT Appeal Commission validated Riziére FC’s request and as a result, Volcan of Noun was disqualified from the competition and given a two-year ban.
In the opening match pitting Olympique of Biwoung Bane against AS Dibamba in pool A, the South representative lost (0-2) to their supporters dismay. Ngaoundéré FC whitewashed Riziére FC by (1-4) in the other pool A fixture. This victory permitted the Adamawa club to occupy the first position on the classification table.
In group B, home club Stade Bertoua shared points with Kohi of Maroua while in pool C, Foncha Street of Bamenda showed no mercy to Etoile Filante of Garoua (1-3). Brandon Awahmukala of Foncha Street and Hamadama Oumarou of Ngaoundéré FC demarcated themselves by netting each a hat-trick for their respective clubs. Both players top the goal chart of the Interpools.
It is worth mentioning that, the first of each of the three pools, will automatically book its place in the League 2.
