Even in his retirement, Samuel Eto’o is still a great source of inspiration to many. One of the first clubs in which he played in the Spanish La Liga CD Leganes has adopted one of his quotes to boost the morale of the players.
The quote of the former Indomitable Lions captain who played for Leganes during 1998/1999 season were produced as flyers and distributed as flyers to players as an inspirational quote.
The club officials printed the quote which read “Fight as if you are in the second division, so as to survive in the first Division” with Eto’o picture and pasted it on the clubs house.
CD Leganes have had a catastrophic debut of season this year and are struggling to return to the rails. The Spanish club are first from bottom on the classification table of La Liga. The hierarchy of the club hopes these inspirational message will boost Leganes for the victory of the season.
Coincidentally, Leganes is playing against one of Eto’o former club Mallorca in Match day 10 fixtures of La Liga this weekend. Eto’o spent four seasons with Mallorca (2000-2004).
On the heels of an important victory against “Los Blancos” Real Madrid last weekend (1-0), Mallorca will want to rally on that performance to record another victory.
