The dates of the 6th edition of the African Cup of Nations (CHAN) will take place from April 4-25, 2020. The dates were communicated yesterday after the CAF Executive Committee (ExCo) held its second statutory meeting of 2019 in Cairo, Egypt, chaired by Ahmad Ahmad.
The tourney that is reserved for exclusively home based players shall be played in four cities of Cameroon that is Yaoundé (Omnisports stadium), Douala (Bepanda and Japoma stadiums) and the Limbe and Buea stadiums respectively. The draws for the competition will take place in the month of January 2020.
Other important decisions were arrived at during the CAF EXCO meeting like CAF’s first-ever Safety and Security Regulations were ratified, as well as the Emergency, Three new award categories, namely, the African Interclubs Player of the Year, the best African Club President and a special recognition award for contributions to society were approved and concerning competitions, the Exco decided to The Super Cup will take place on 14th February in Doha, Qatar, the FIFA Club World Cup 2021 representatives from Africa will be the first, second and third place winners of the Champions League 2020/2021, New formats for youth and women’s competitions based on 12 teams were approved among others.
