Six Cameroonians have been nominated for the 2019 edition of the CAF Awards. Nchout Ajara and Aboudi Onguene for Women’s player of the year, Alain Djeumfa for Women’s coach if the year, Frank Kim for for interclub player of the year and Andre Onana and Maxim Choupo Noting for men’s player of the year respectively. The women’s National has equally been nominated for National team of the year.
Nchout Ajara is co soldered as favorite for Women’s player of the year considering her excellent season with her club and her wonderful solo goal scored against New Zealand in the Lionesses theirs group stage match in the Women’s World Cup that took place in France. Her goal was selected as best goal in the Puskas awards.
Andre Onana is another favorite in the men’s category for player of the year. The Ajax Amsterdam keeper won both Dutch Eredivise and Dutch cup last season and equally had an excellent spell in the Champions League. The Dutch club were narrowly eliminated by Tottenham Hotspur on the semifinal. The captain of the Indomitable Lions Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting also appears on the list of 30 nominees. Franck Kom is the last Cameroonian nominated in this CAF Awards. He is racing in the category of African interclubs player of the year. The annual football awards will take place on Tuesday, 7 January 2020, at Citadel Azure, Hurghada, Egypt.
