In view of the last round of the 2020 women’s Olympic Games qualifiers, Coach Alain entered camp last Monday at Akono with 23 players as they are bracing up for the last round qualifiers against Zambia.
22 of the 23 players called up by Coach Alain Djeumfa are home-based with lone foreign player being Augustine EjangueSiliki player of Norwegian club ArnaBjornar. Ejangue returns to the den after missing out in the third and fourth round of the qualifiers due to an injury. Her experience will be highly useful for the home-based players in camp.
League leaders LouvesMinproff carry the greatest of players called up with six players followed by Amazon FAP of Yaounde with five players, Éclair of Sa’a and Eding girls of Yaounde have three players, Canon and Awa F.B Girls have two players and Ebolowa FC have one player.
Some players called up are well known names in likes of Alexandra Takounda of Éclair of Sa’a, Michelle Akaba of Amazone Fap, MeyongMeyene of LouveMinproff and others.
The training camp will permit coach Alain Djeumfa select the best players for the qualifiers slated for the month of March. A training camp for foreign players would equally be held in days ahead.
It is worth mentioning that the double confrontations pitting the Lionesses versus Zambia will be played on March 2 and 1, 2020 respectively.
